Vaulter of the Week
Cameron Childers &
Colton Jensen: It
was a close vote again to name just one athlete as our Boy’s “Vaulter of the
Week”, so here are our picks!
Cameron Childers, a
senior from Carson H.S., came up with a PR jump of 14' to place second in the
Northern Nevada 4A Regional Championships topping his previous best by 3".
Cameron was a 5th place finisher in last years Regional meet with a 13' vault
and has shown a lot of improvement this season.
We would also like to recognize Colton
Jensen for his accomplishments this season by winning the Southern Nevada 3A
Regional Pole Vault and finally making a new PR of 13' 6"! This junior
from Virgin Valley H.S. has been close to jumping a new PR all year & we're
happy to see that he finally jumped it when it really counted! For coming up big, when it
really counts we name Cameron & Colton, our
week-10, Boy’s “Vaulters
of the Week”!!
Madison Mills & Genna Naquin: Our Week-10 Girl’s “Vaulter of the Week” was also a tough call, so we decided to name two again! You may remember Maddie from last year where, as a freshman from Bishop Manogue H.S., she qualified at the Northern Nevada 4A Regional Championships in a 3-way tie for 3rd to make it to the State Meet. This year, at this same meet, she placed second with a 10' 6" jump. This will be her second trip in to State and we expect to see some big things from her. Genna, a senior from Galena H.S., was also in the 3-way tie in last years Northern 4A Championships and earned a trip to the State Meet. This year, she brought it all together when it counts the most & earned herself a spot again at the State Meet! We proudly name these two athletes, our Week-10, Girl’s “Vaulters of the Week”!!
Congratulations to both of these athletes!!
All “Vaulters of the Week” will receive a “Vaulter of the Week” tee-shirt. Now we will pick one girl and one boy for “Vaulter of the Year” from all the kids who were named “Vaulter of the Week”.
Only two or three sentences on why you feel they should be named “Vaulter of the Year” and, if you send us a photo, we will post it on our web site for all their friends, family and coaches to see.
